Moseley ARC Project funded by Heritage Lottery Fund presents a Mehndi and Furniture Exhibition.
I was awarded the Heritage Lottery Fund. Working with a group of 14 diseffected young people, the funding was used to create a peice of furniture. The children studied about different types of wood, Leather industry and leather is produced. They were taught the art of carpentry, and of applying mehndi (henna) to wood and leather.
I worked with 2 professional wood work artists, and a group of youth workers over a period of 15 months, at the end of which we have organised an exhibition of the art work created by the young people. The work unifies the use of natural products, Mehndi, Wood and Leather. The exhibition will display the work of the 14 school pupils who have worked tirelessly to produce furniture of innovative style and design.
The exhibiton will start on Tuesday 17th July 2007 and will run for 1month
